The Gift is one of our more hard core mix tapes. It has SOLDIER, which is a song about two dead soldiers that were friends of my brother and good friend. It also has LETTER FROM IRAQ, that has my brother reading emails he sent me from Iraq and me rapping the response. My brother was Sgt Elijah Warren, a Special Operations Sgt in the US Army. He committed suicide in 2008. This mix tape is a GIFT to his memory. The GIFT also features songstress Silk E and beats from Amp Live of Zion I. Buckle up people. #FF

DJ Booth Premiere's IGNITE Mixtape

On the heels of their latest EP, The Phoenix, Oakland's own Flipsyde are releasing a series of five mixtapes titled F.I.G.H.T. (Focus, Ignite, Gift, Higher, and Transform) including old unreleased material showing the evolution of the band throughout their career. Flipsyde follows up Focus with Ignite, presented by DJ D-Sharp. Ignite features production by Amp Live, Akon, Reto Peter, Flipsyde, and Kardinal Offishall. MC Piper explains the new F.I.G.H.T. mixtapes:

"We thought about our road in the music industry, in particular everything we've done in the past few years. We've gone through so much that when looking back on it, it was almost like we were a boxer knocked out on our feet; still swinging, still fighting, but knocked out none the less. The first thing we had to do was wake up and regain our FOCUS. Once we came together and everything became clear, we IGNITED the fire within. Focused and charged, we were once again given the GIFT that had attracted our fans to us in the first place. Climbing HIGHER both individually and as a group, we came to a point where we could either go back or...TRANSFORM. So we transformed. But in order to make sense out of everything for our fans, we felt the need to release all of the unreleased material. We want our fans to know where we've been and what we've been through. It's been a F.I.G.H.T. but it's been well worth it. We hope all of you tune in to listen to the missing pages of our musical history. We promise, the best is yet to come......."
